Alienation

by Balkanist Discourse

/

about

A song placing my micro-level stresses within a larger framework of greedy capitalist shite. Just the usual: gender dysphoria, helplessness, depression and hopelessness. All about moments where I'm feeling trapped.

lyrics

I'm barely holdin' on
The symptoms burn so strong
I see that nightmare vision in the mirror
But that's not who I am

Running low on hope
and healthy ways to cope
apathy and isolation burn
What a lonely embrace

Take the pain away
Intrusive thoughts at bay
I keep trying to understand
Why my life's not in my hands
In this predetermined affair
Suffocating me slowly while holding the air

Post it to the void
where it's easy to avoid
Engage with the spectacle but not
the human that's there

Distance steadily grows
when no one hears your woes
Drowning deeper into our own heads
Where our joy slowly fades

(The) feeling's here to stay
In the cages that we've made
Guess I'll never understand,
This old hell that we have planned
Few control the charade
I'm just trying to survive through this masquerade

Disassociate and dream of some way to escape
But there's no way I can see but that one thing that's guaranteed
So can I just have some peace
